In the lifelong search for review of the perfect drone you probably haven't yet found that quadcopter that will make your dreams come true.
But what if I told you the drone of MY dreams is in fact a hexacopter. It's not an expensive one, but rather toy grade and don't expect to use it for videography.
However, it does have the option to FPV and record video and it flies absolutely great. The mjx x600 is a very badass looking drone that has the rigtht features that a fun drone should have.
And I'm talking here about
- great flight control
- long lasting battery
- and good looks
It comes in 2 colors: either full black or full white ( my personal favorite is the black one).
In day flight, people might have a hard time figuring out which way is the front and so I recommend you either put some colored tape on the back arms or get another set of different colored spare props and change some to better figure out orientation.
How does it fly?
First of all, it comes with 3 difficulty settings that control the speed and maneuverability of the aircraft depending on your skill level. I recommend first time flyers to start in beginner mode and progress from there.
Here's my video review, in case you don't want to read
but rather see it with your own eyes.
The flying modes can be easily changed by the press of this button on the controller. And you also have a visual cue from the LCD display on the controller that fills an oval shape gradually depending on the difficulty of the mode you're in.

Here are the 2 best choices you have( also affiliate links, but you pay the same):

The third "expert" mode does not change the speed of the drone compared to intermediate, but does do something quite unique. It makes it so every turn you make will result in a flip. This is very difficult to fly in and burns through the battery like crazy.
If you want to do fun flips, I recommend you fly only in intermediate mode and press the top right button each time you want to flip.
The 2.4GHz controller is surprisingly well built for the price and it actually has a very close resemblance to the more professional hobby grade ones around.

There are trim buttons for every direction and even a button to regulate how sensitive the controls are to your finger movements.
The transmitter also adapts to your favorite piloting style so you can switch the stick functions from pitch&roll from the right stick to the left one or back.
There's also a button for each stick that controls whether you want the stick to come back to a stable position or remain in the spot you left it.
My own flying preferences are:
- right stick: pitch&roll and position auto-adjust (the stick gets back to the center position) to stop the aircraft from flying into things
- Yaw on the left stick and stable stick position (the stick remains in the position you left it)
The c4006 camera is specially made for this drone and it's main use is mostly FPV (first person view) oriented. It records in 720p with ok quality for an fpv cam.
Although there are some issues with it draining the battery too fast. The camera itself is very thin weighing only 10 grams so it doesn't drag the drone down too much.
However, when it comes to making lightweight cameras it must be compromised in the video quality department. The camera films in 720p HD or VGA quality depending on what model you pick and has a very good price for what it can do.
The package contains a phone holder that can be mounted on the x600 controller. To fly it, you must first install the app from the app store and connect the camera to the drone with the 2 screws.
From what I have noticed, the lag is quite not that significant for this price range. It's not world class racing drone good, but nothing to be ashamed for.
I only recommend this in case you really want to experience FPV or want to capture some video or photos without caring so much about quality.
If you want to just record and get some better quality video from it. Get a mobius camera and stick it with some velcro to the drone and you will record way better quality footage.
Battery and Power
This is probably the feat I'm most impressed with this drone, as the battery life is quite outstanding so you can squeeze a lot of fun time out of it.
- 700 mAh battery
- up to 12 minutes flight time
- 7.4v means lots of power for tricks and flips
The way the battery is built enables it to pack quite a power punch and the 7.4 v do a great job if you want to fly faster and get quicker responses from the controls.
As I forgot to mention one small feature that makes a big difference is the on/off button on top of it. It might seem obvious and typical but most drones usually start flickering the lights right as the battery is connected.
And it's kinda annoying to have to disconnect the battery each and every time. Conclusion Personally, I find this hexacopter to be better than most drones at this price range, both quality and function wise.
I very much enjoy flying it through trees as it's very nimble and responsive, and so far it's probably my most favorite toy level drone. The size is great for indoors flight as well as outdoors and it's durability is something out of this world.
